About Fort Worth Intelligence Exchange (FW INTEX)

A fusion center is a collaborative effort of two or more federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial (SLTT) government agencies that combines resources, expertise, or information with the goal of maximizing the ability of such agencies to detect, prevent, investigate, apprehend, and respond to criminal or terrorist activity.  State and major urban area fusion centers serve as focal points within the state and local environment for the receipt, analysis, gathering, and sharing of threat-related information between federal and SLTT government agencies and private-sector partners. 1

AOR2.pngThe Fort Worth INTEX intends to increase information and intelligence sharing capabilities for the jurisdictions within 9 counties located on the Southwest side of Fort Worth to include Tarrant, Palo Pinto, Parker, Erath, Hood, Somervell, Johnson, Eastland, and Comanche counties.

The fusion center will support a two-way flow of information and intelligence, within the guidelines of local, state, and federal privacy laws and policies, between multiple agencies and disciplines to include law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, colleges and universities, hospitals, retail establishments, and other private sector entities.

The fusion center will maintain a larger, over-all, situational picture of the region it supports with regard to terror and criminal threats.  The fusion center can provide regional officer safety alerts, research potential threats, conduct special event threat assessments, conduct incident threat assessments, receive and research crime stoppers and campus crime stoppers tips as well as other crime tips, accept and research suspicious activity reports, incorporate personnel from across the region into the fusion liaison program, incorporate private sector partnerships into the private sector outreach program, maintain regular communication with state and federal intelligence partners, and provide strategic information and intelligence products for the region.

The fusion center will utilize regional information-sharing platforms such as the North Central Texas Community of Interest Web Page powered by the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN), the regional virtual situation room powered by HSIN Connect, and a fusion center regional website in order to maintain regional situational awareness, information flow, and a robust liaison program.

The fusion center will provide research and analytical support for the City of Fort Worth and jurisdictions within the AOR through the use of intelligence analysts, crime analysts, the real-time crime center, the Police Homeland Security Unit, and the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) liaison.
